Sunsets & Shipwrecks
Sunsets & Shipwrecks is a memoir of survival. It begins with the year that I spent living in the doomed art collective of Satya Yuga and the events leading up to the deadly Ghost Ship fire in 2016. It details the night my home turned into an inferno, and the chaos that followed as I navigated homelessness, PTSD, the media machine, and the legal battles after the fire. I also document the impact the fire had on the Bay Area DIY community, the erasure of art warehouses through eviction, and the lasting impacts of the fire on Oakland. It's a lesson in how someone can overcome the unthinkable, and find new strength to triumph over trauma.
