About

Carmen has been called a crisis actor by conspiracy theorists and a witch by small children. Lately, Carmen has been calling herself a writer. Born to a missionary mother and a Caribbean father, Carmen grew up in the Sierra Nevada mountains. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from Dominican University of California. Carmen spent several years teaching English in Thailand, South Korea, and China.

After struggling to find housing, Carmen joined an art warehouse collective in Oakland, California in January 2016. On December 2nd, 2016 a fire erupted during an electronic music show. The Ghost Ship fire killed 36 people that night. Carmen is one of the lucky survivors.

She walked all 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago in 2021 while writing her first book. Carmen currently lives aboard a sailboat in Oakland, occasionally chasing off pirates. She reads tarot under the full moon and new moon. If she's not working on the boat or a book, she makes pottery.
